Playback
Hearing a groove is the fastest way to catch a wrong cell. Playback is built in and needs no setup.
Loop one groove
Press ▶ at the left of a grid's toolbar. That section's pattern loops at its tempo, and the grid highlights the step being played. Keep painting while it loops; you hear changes on the next pass. Changing the resolution, the bar count or the time signature restarts the loop so the timing stays right. Press ■ or Esc to stop.
Play the whole song
▶ Play song in the header, or ▶ Play in the phone's bottom bar, plays every section top to bottom with its repeats, tempo changes, dynamics and hairpins. It stops at the end of the chart.
Click and count-in
- Click adds a metronome, with a stronger click on beat one of each bar.
- Count-in plays one bar of clicks before the music starts.
Both are remembered for next time.
Kits
The kit menu next to Click (under More on a phone) picks the sound:
- Acoustic: a general-purpose kit.
- Rock: bigger kick and snare.
- Electronic 808: drum-machine sounds.
- Brushes: soft, for ballads and jazz.
The kits are synthesized in the browser, so there's nothing to download and they work offline.
